Jeff Pearl and Connie Tomski-Faville of Pearl Engineering were recently interviewed for a National Public Radio – MarketPlace Radio Program on the Globalization effects on American Industries and Communities including Paper Mills Towns.
In the interview, they presented that Jeff Pearl, President, had started his own Engineering Firm after being displaced from Consolidated Papers, Inc. in 2000 as one example of pulling oneself up by their bootstraps. Jeff explained the hardships and lower income experienced by displaced Paper Industries workers trying to start into new employment fields.
Connie Tomski-Faville, Office Manager at Pearl Engineering discussed being a Technology Instructor at the local Technical College and trying to teach older displaced employees computer skills.
In addition, Dale Arendt of the Arendt Group who advises Pearl Engineering was also interviewed regarding his work on the local Community Progress Initiative for economic enhancement after the mill closings.
